We all know different genetics age differently. I thought this was an interesting study in the latest Plastic and Surgery Journal “Best of 2021”. “An Analytical Study of Aging in the Asian Indian Face.”
Study:
- 300 people, age 30 and above
- They broke it into 4 different groups: North, South, East, West
- They looked at forehead lines, loss of brow prominence, extra eyelid skin, crows feet, tear trough deformity, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, fat bags, loss of fullness of buccal fat pad, loss of cheek volume, neck volume, jawline at rest.
What did they find?
- Significant differences exist between Asian Indians and Caucasians
- Earlier signs of aging (30-40 yo) were visible in North and East Indian
- South Indians showed the least sings of aging- early and overall – compared to the other 3 ethnic groups.
My thoughts?
Why are there differences? What can we learn from this? Can we apply things to other ethnicities?
