It is estimated 80% of women wear the wrong size of bra. As you may know, there is NO standard to bra sizing. So a 34 C cup at Victoria’s Secret is likely a different size than a 34C with Maidenform, Olga, or La Perla. There are obvious signs your bra is the wrong size- you are constantly having to adjust it, it hurts, the shoulder straps are digging into your shoulder. But some may be more subtle. Here are 6 signs your bra is the wrong size.
CUP SIZE (A,B,C,D)
- Loose fabric in the bra cup, the cup size is too big
- If the breast tissue overflows the bottom of the bra, out into the armpit, or over the bra top edge, the cup size is too small
- If the underwire pokes the breast under the armpit, the cup size is too small
- If the bra’s center panel does not lie flat against the sternum, the cup size is too small
BAND SIZE (34,36,38)
- The band in the back rides up, forming an arch, the band is too big (ie you are a 34, not a 36)
- If the band digs into your side causing your skin to spill over the edges of the bra, the band is too small.
Helpful hint for band size– Put the bra on backwards so the cups are in the back and look at the band. Is it comfortable? Does it ride up? (too big) or does it cut into your sides and your skin bulges over the top? (too small)
Helpful hint – If the band feels tight, check to see if the cup size is too small before going up in bandsize.
