They are always trying to improve on implants.
A new silicone gel round implant came out from Allergan. It is called INSPIRA.
Why did they want to improve on silicone implants?
- It is a higher cohesive gel implant.
- This should help maintain upper pole fullness better
- The gel will stay in place (if the implant is injured)
- They offer more profiles.
- This I LOVE. There are just more choices. For a natural breast look, it is all about the numbers- the width, the projection, and the volume.
- With their new series, they offer what I like to call the “super low profile” implant- great for my patients who want a small breast augmentation volume change.
- They still have a low profile, medium profile, high profile, and super high profile.
- There are smaller jumps between sizes. Gel implants come in fixed volumes- 200, 225, 250. With the new series, many of the jumps are 15-20cc, not 25-30.
- 51% more cohesive than Mentor Memory Gel, and
- 37% more than Sientra style 106.
When they look at changes in height and projection, they state they are more form stable. In their study (*it was the study by their company) it was 47% more form stable than mentor, and 28% more than Sientra.
So what do I think?
More choices is good. They are slightly firmer than the round implants before these- the Style 10, Style 15, and Style 20 implants. The widths and projections are close. They have more choices. It has allowed me to have many more options for my patients. I will always focus on width, projection, and volume. For every patient the “ideal” implant varies based on those parameters.
