Quick blog, but I think it is something to think about when considering elective cosmetic surgery during coronavirus.
You will need to get tested first.
All the surgical centers I know of are testing patients within a week of surgery for the active Coronavirus antigen (NOT the antibody) for Covid-19.
- Yes, we know there are false negatives
- Yes, we know you could contract the disease during the time between your test and your surgery (though you should absolutely be vigilant about distancing, washing hands, not touching your face, not going to stores, wearing a mask, etc etc before your surgery)
- Most centers will not do your surgery without a negative test.
- Please see my blogs on why HERE.
This includes testing the doctors. I got my test done this past week. Super easy to schedule. I did a drive through testing site. It was easy. I waited in my car. The directions were totally clear.
It is not a perfect process, but it is the best we can do right now. See all my blogs on coronavirus, the risks, and the consents you will need to sign.
