I do a lot of breast augmentations and am frequently asked, “What kind of implant should I use?”
ROUND COHESIVE GEL IMPLANT vs ANATOMIC SHAPED STYLE 410 IMPLANT GUMMY BEAR
They are both good implants. There are nuances, though. The best way to help you figure out the best choice for you is to see a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss those nuances. Some basic things to think about are:
- Are you missing volume in the upper pole of the breast? (the cleavage upper chest area)
- How natural do you want to look? (You can have a natural look with both, but again there are nuances)
- What size do you want? (If you skew small or large, the style 410 may not be an option for you)
- What does your ribcage look like? (Is it flat or sloped?)
- What size incision do you want?
- Where do you want your incision?
- Are you active, particularly in bouncy things (like running) or upper body workouts (focusing on pectoral muscle)?
- How risk averse are you? (With respect to complications like capsular contracture and wrinkling)
- How thin is your tissue cover over the implant?
- What is your budget?
Many of my patients have the option to choose either. The Vectra® 3D imaging system helps my patients visualize the small differences. Also, I will go over these points with you during your consultation. But these are things to think about before you see your doctor.
