Dr. Lauren Greenberg discusses the benefits of Restylane Silk®, touching upon the key differences between this dermal filler and similar products.
Palo Alto, CA — There is a broad range of dermal fillers available, many of which are FDA-approved to address facial wrinkles. Dr. Lauren Greenberg, a plastic surgeon in Palo Alto, explains that Restylane® Silk is one of the more recent additions to the category. Asked what makes this product unique, she says that Restylane® Silk fills a niche in its market by helping to correct very fine lines around the mouth and on the lips, in addition to other benefits. She adds that this soft tissue filler could help patients achieve natural-looking facial rejuvenation when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.
Restylane® Silk is the only dermal filler FDA-approved to smooth fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and provide subtle lip enhancement. Dr. Greenberg says there are a number of important things to know about Restylane® Silk that can help patients differentiate this product from other cosmetic injectables. Restylane® Silk, she says, is comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in our skin. Dr. Greenberg also notes that the formula is designed to treat very fine wrinkles and only small amounts should be utilized. If an individual desires more comprehensive anti-aging effects, she says this product can be combined with other dermal fillers. Dr. Greenberg adds that Restylane® Silk typically lasts approximately six months, and downtime, if experienced at all, should be minimal.
Ultimately, Dr. Greenberg believes that Restylane® Silk is a useful addition to the expansive collection of dermal fillers. She says patients interested in non-surgical treatment of lip lines and other wrinkles should discuss their concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon. The right physician, she adds, will develop a customized treatment plan that is tailored to the needs and goals of the individual.
