This story was published in Dallasnews.com a week ago:
It stems from an article written by a staff member of realself.Ā
He met with some female plastic surgeons (not me) to talk about social media: facebook, twitter, blogs, etc.Ā His general feeling was they felt their audience “really likes hearing from female plastic surgeons.” (Well of course!) They surmised the female plastic surgeons got “more clicks” to their websites than the male surgeons did.Ā So they did a little study.
They found:
- Male plastic surgeons are much more active on RealSelf, and potentially, social media.Ā In their online doctor community of 1,000+ doctors, 15% are women, but only are 6% of doctor activity on the site.
- Female plastic surgeons get the clicks.Ā Even though women aren’t as active writing, they get 12% of the clicks.Ā “Their share of voice may be far under the men, but female plastic surgeons command considerable attention.”
My favorite part though is the following…
