If you are mildly sick at home, are there things you should do?
A doctor group I am in recently wrote up their thoughts. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL TREATMENT. But as I blog so much, and winter is coming, I wanted to share these thoughts. Of course, once you are sick you are a vector of disease and can give it to others. Keep yourself away from your friends and family. Wear a mask and do not go into common areas of the house. Contact those you were in close contact with before you got COVID. They need to know for their work/family/grandparent.
If you have a mild case and are at home:
- Get a pulse oximeter. If your oxygen saturation drops below 93, seek medical attention asap.
- Sleep prone. (On your belly). This has been shown to help your lungs a lot.
- Take your temperature.
- Hydrate. Eat. Keep your energy up.
- Vitamins/Mediations which may help
-
- Vitamin C 500 mg twice a day
- Quercetin 250-500 mg twice a day
- Zinc 75-100 mg/ day
- Melatonin 6 – 10 mg at night (the optimal dose is unknown)
- Vitamin D3 2000-4000 units/day
- Baby Aspirin 81mg or a regular aspirin 325 mg unless contraindicated. (why take this? because blood clotting is a known issue with COVID. But aspirin is a blood thinner, so if you have a reason to not be on blood thinners, do NOT take this)
- Famotidine 40 mg twice a day (reduce if you have kidney issues)
- B complex vitamins.
-
If your oxygen is 93% or lower GO TO THE HOSPITAL.
