What is the style 410 implant?
- a super cohesive gel implant
- it is FORM STABLE, which in English means it does not distort. This causes less rippling and wrinkling. Instead of the breast shaping the implant, this implant can shape the breast.
- it is shaped. because of this the surface is textured, so it can’t rotate or move. (you don’t want the shape to rotate so it is on its side or upside down)
- it comes in a variety of heights, projections, and widths
- it has a lower rate of capsular contracture
Is it right for everyone?
- No.
- It requires a larger incision to place the implant
- It costs more
- There are some breast types it is not good for.
What is the hoopla? The third generation cohesive gel implants were allowed on the market years ago, but for some reason the FDA did not allow the style 410 onto the market. It has been used extensively in Europe and Canada for over a decade. The 410 was used by a few US surgeons during that time as part of the study. It has now been released into general practice to those who have done the training. (Which I have done.) I think it is a great addition to our toolbox for breast augmentation. As with all things, there are pros and cons. I am happy to evaluate you and discuss them at a consulation.
